How the computation works
Under Rule 22, Section 1 of the Rules of Court, when computing a period prescribed or allowed by the Rules, a court order, or an applicable statute, the day of the act or event from which the period begins to run is excluded and the date of performance is included.
If the last day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday in the place where the court sits, the period runs until the next working day. Weekends and holidays occurring within the reglementary period are not automatically excluded from the count merely because they are non-working days.
